The Development of the National Background Check

CriminalBackgroundRecords.com was launched officially on January 2nd, 2003 when less than 70% of the USA was offering instant statewide criminal background checks.  The founders of Information Enterprises, Inc and CriminalBackgroundRecords.com have been in the criminal background industry for almost two decades and were and have remained pioneers in the background retrieval industry.

When only a few states were offering statewide criminal background checks, the founders of Information Enterprises were the first people to make these background checks available to the public instantly through online high speed data gateways.  They then convinced other states to develop their own criminal databases so background checks could be conducted instantly by US Citizens 24 hours a day any day of the year for a nominal fee.   Really, when you are paying for a background check online today, what you are mostly paying for is the convenience of getting your search results back in a timely manner.  The alternative would be to actually go to a courthouse where records are stored and manually search for the record results you are seeking yourself.

With the exception of two states (Wyoming & South Dakota) all Statewide Criminal Background Checks can be performed instantly through our website.  Statewide Criminal Background Checks pull records from repositories containing criminal conviction records from that particular state.  These records come from various sources such as criminal records from county courts, AOC (administrative office of the courts) records, law enforcement etc... 

Statewide Criminal Background Checks also include criminal records from the DOC (dept. of corrections), national sex offender registry and other independent databases.  Records found in a statewide search could go back 50 years or more while a typical county level check only goes back 7 years (10 if you want to pay a little extra).  The 7-year county criminal check is the current standard background check used in most US Corporations today as part of their employment screening process.

Our National Criminal Background Check is simply all of our Statewide Criminal Checks combined along with all of our free background checks that we perform for every criminal check searched through CriminalBackgroundRecords.com including the national sex offender registry, international terrorist list search, and all of America’s Most Wanted Lists including US Marshalls and the FBI.

Although there are many advantages using a Statewide or National Criminal Check, the County Criminal Check is still the most popular corporate criminal background check because of its accuracy and because it is up to date to the day that the court researcher searched the court house records.  So for employment screening purposes it is advised to perform county criminal checks as they are the most up to date and current information available. 

County Criminal Background Checks due to the nature of conducting one are non-instant and could take hours to multiple days to complete, depending on the remoteness of the county and how often court researchers are pulling records from that particular court house. 

Most often our valued clients use the National Criminal Background Check or a Statewide Criminal Background Check.  They use these large nets to find out if there are any hits on the person they are investigating.  If criminal records (criminal conviction records) are found, our clients usually perform a county level search where the records were found in order to verify that they are making a decision based on a complete and accurate criminal record, as currently the National and Statewide Criminal Background Checks are not 100% accurate or complete.  Although, National and Statewide Criminal History Checks are now more reliable than ever!
