New Federal Search

(Order a Federal Search by itself or with another Background Check) is adding the federal search as a new background check product.  This new national background search encompasses almost the entire federal court system.  The federal search includes all US Federal Courts including criminal, civil and bankruptcy courts.  This new federal background check includes a National Sex Offender Search, USA Most Wanted List Search and an International Terrorist Watch List Search.  The federal search can be ordered by itself or with any other background check like the instant national criminal background check.

Because of the internal operations of the US Federal Court System, the federal search cannot be offered as an instant background check.  Instead the federal court search takes one to two business days to complete and involves a bit of manual labor.  However, this is only a small time to wait for a court search that covers most of the federal courts in the USA.  Although the federal search includes all Federal Civil, Criminal, and Bankruptcy Courts, it does not include some federal courts like Tax Courts.

Search results you can expect to see after ordering a federal search include party name, court where case was filed, case number, and the actual filing date. also returns the case summary for name matches made which includes the defendant name, office where case was filed, file date, termination date, charges, offense level, and attorney names involved.  Actual federal record will give all party names, date of birth (if available) on a criminal record, case number, date case filed, attorney names, docket entries and verdict details.  All records reported to from the federal courts are delivered back to the customer requesting the search.

Felony convictions and any other related activity on file are reported to the customer in their search results. Reported activity typically goes back 7 years, however because each federal court maintains their own information, date ranges on information provided varies by jurisdiction.  Open arrest warrants are also reported and generally include cases awaiting trial or charges for failure to appear.

Due to the nature of how federal records are filed, most Federal Searches are performed by attempting to match the person’s name with names on file.  Date of birth and other identifiers are generally not available on federal record files so in order to avoid sending useless information to customers has procedures in place to look into where the subject of investigation has previously lived.  The site then compares these addresses to the state where the federal record(s) was found, as well as making sure the middle initial matches (if one is exists) before sending search results back to its customers.

3 points to remember regarding the Federal Search:

  1. All federal cases are felonies, so the search is felony only
  2. Each federal court maintains its own case information so there will be some variations among jurisdictions as to the date ranges of information offered.  You will need to contact the court directly to find out how far back case information is available in a particular jurisdiction.
  3. If a federal case has been filed against an individual, and there is an open warrant out for that individual it would be included provided that the case is not sealed until service of the indictment, which sometimes occurs in federal court.

The federal court search pulls current information/records on file regarding federal cases. The United States Federal Court System currently has 189 district courts, 136 bankruptcy courts, and 13 circuit courts of appeals. The district courts in the United States are the trial courts of the federal court system. The district courts have jurisdiction to hear just about all categories of federal cases both civil and criminal.

As with any other background check offers, its Federal Search comes with a Free 50-State National Sex Offender Check, Free America's Most Wanted Criminals List Search, and Free International Terrorist Background Check.
